A note from Daniel Wolfe, VP of Information Tech, HR and Administration

Dear Telx Customers & Partners,

Hi there, I'm Daniel Wolfe, VP of Information Tech, HR, and Administration. You’re probably wondering from my lengthy title, "What does he actually DO?" Well, simply put, I spend a lot of time thinking about what makes good companies into excellent, world-class organizations. I joined Telx almost two years ago and since then I've been working to apply all of that good thinking to concrete business process and systems improvements. I've spent the last 12 years leading systems improvement initiatives at a variety of global organizations.

In world-class organizations much thought has been applied to refining all of the potential "touch points" which a customer encounters. This means efficient business processes across the entire customer service lifecycle. It's the care with which an order is handled, the accuracy of a customer's invoice, and the timeliness in completing technical support and customer service requests. At Telx, we are implementing systems and process improvements in areas that we know our customers and partners will feel. We are enhancing our ordering and billing, technical support, inventory tracking, and facility access systems. At Telx, when we talk about certification programs like SAS 70 and ITIL, we approach these initiatives as true business improvement programs, beyond mere certification.

You may have noticed recently that the format of your Technical Support Ticket (TST) invoices has changed. This is part of an overall effort to streamline our end-to-end TST process for customers. Telx customers are now able to enter TSTs directly in the Telx portal and we encourage this for all customers. This will ensure that your TST is routed as quickly as possible, and you will receive a tracking number and email updates immediately.

Regarding SAS 70 and facility access management, all Telx customers have recently received a letter requesting to update authorized access lists. It goes without saying that security is a major focus at Telx. At the heart of security at Telx is maintaining up-to-date authorized access lists for all of our colocation customers. Our new access list format enables you to specify which contacts at your organization should be permitted to access Telx facilities, place orders, and request technical support. It is essential that we always have the most updated access list for your organization on file. If you are not sure if you received the new access list template, simply send an email to access@telx.com requesting to update your access list. We will gladly send you the new format.

To sum it all up, I would like to personally thank you for choosing Telx for your colocation and interconnection needs. By selecting Telx you have chosen a partner who is willing to invest in all of the processes that make for outstanding customer service and support!

Yours truly,

Daniel Wolfe

Product Focus

Telx Internet Exchange (TIE) is now available in Atlanta, Phoenix, Dallas and New York!

TIE is the Telx peering exchange and allows the efficient interconnection of providers with Internet traffic. We have recently added TIE in Dallas and New York metro to TIE in Atlanta and Phoenix.
New York is an underserved and fragmented peering marketplace. However, New York is the key gateway in the US with the largest community of US, European, Asian and South American providers. Telx runs the largest, world class carrier neutral interconnection site in New York, so adding a cost effective peering exchange make sense. The New York Metro Exchange, TIE – New York, is located in both 60 Hudson Street and 111 8th Avenue. It fills a critical void in this region. Telx supports this metro exchange with 24 hour service and connectivity between 60 Hudson and 111 8th Avenue.

Bryan Street in Dallas has 80+ service providers who can now connect together. Prior to TIE- Dallas, there was no peering exchange at Bryan Street. Adding peering here improves the services that Telx can offer these service providers.

TIE now has 70 participants between all our exchanges and we continue to grow. Some new peers include Internap Network Services, Integra Telecom, Edgecast and Paetec Communications.

In October, to better support our participants, Telx will release our next generation TIE participant portal. The portal included tools to aid participants in establishing peering and managing their ports.

If you want to know more about TIE go to TIE.Telx.com.
