The Telx Metro Cross Connect

Telx offers TDM and Ethernet Transport solutions between two Telx facilities in the same metro area. Includes the following speeds and protocols: DS1, DS3, OC3 to OC-48, 10/100 Mb Ethernet, 1/10G Ethernet. Metro Cross Connect Service demarcs are Telx meet-me-area to Telx meet-me area within Telx-operated suites. As such, it is a requirement that each customer has physical cabling (fiber packs, etc) between their cabinet/cage and the MMR. Without that cabling in place, an end-to-end connection will not be possible.

The Telx Virtual Xchange

The Telx Virtual Xchange, formerly known as Telx's Brilliant Platform, helps you lower capital and expense by providing a way to do muxing and conversion more effectively.

How does it work? The Telx Virtual Xchange provides SONET-SDH-Ethernet translations enabling domestic US and international networks to interconnect between ANSI and ETSI within the optical switch fabric.

You just connect circuits to the Telx Virtual Xchange and the Platform

  • Muxes and demuxes circuits: The platform takes low speed circuits and muxes them into higher speed circuits or demuxes a high speed circuits into lower speed circuits.
  • Converts one type of circuit into another (e.g., SDH to Sonet)
  • Provides virtual software cross connects from one provider to another
  • Maps Ethernet to Sonet circuits

Benefits

  • Lowers your capital and expense by eliminating the need for additional equipment (e.g., ADM equipment), resources and management software for hubbing, grooming and conversion.
  • Interconnections are done in software and happen quickly and efficiently
  • Platform is highly reliable with 24x7 monitoring
  • Simplifies and optimizes network functions on a single platform
  • 99.999% equipment uptime

Plainly stated, The Telx Virtual Xchange simplifies every service provider’s network, enabling global service providers to “speak” the same language, eliminating the need for additional hubbing, grooming and conversion equipment.
